East Down Community Library
Our library is located in the Village Hall and was established in 2024 following the demise of the mobile library service. We have a wide selection of books and DVD's, all of which have kindly been donated by the local community.
The Fiction collection is located in the recently refurbished porch which is open access 7 days a week. The wide range of Non Fiction books and DVD's are held inside the Hall are are accessible when the Hall is open for any of our scheduled events.
Our books and DVD's are borrowed on an honesty basis; we just ask that they are returned to the dedicated shelf in the porch. When returning your books, why not donate another one to help us refresh our stock ?
We hold a library morning in the Hall on the third Thursday of every month. Held between 10.15 a.m, and noon it gives the chance to browse our collection of books over a cuppa and a slice of cake. We ask a small donation of £1 towards the upkeep of the Village Hall.
If you have a Devon Library card, you can join our borrowing club. This will allow you to access the main library website at the Library morning and order books from the central library. These books can either be collected from Barnstaple or will be collected and dropped off at the Hall.
